PALEOANTHROPOLOGY LAB
EXCAVATION TOOLS
The bones and craneums of the first hominids have been buried for more than 3.000.000 millions of years. When archaeologist find some remains, they have to work on them carefully, separating the bones from the sand incrusted in the pieces.
For this task, they need to use specialized tools, the same as the first homidis used other tools for hunting or cutting.

IN THE LABORATORY
Paleoanthropologists work in labs to reconstruct the bones found in their excavations. Sometimes, to assemble the pieces is very painstaking and takes a long time and precision.
Once the scientists have managed to have a complete craneum, they need to classify, describe, date and study it in order to disclose the main features of the individual to which it belongs to.

In this Lab you'll find everything you need for your investigations to analyze, classify, date and describe the five craneums we need to study.
