SHARPENED STONES (STONEWORK)

HAND AXE MADE OF SILEX

SHARPENED STONES
THE FIRST HOMINIDS, using their more advanced intelligence, found in the stonework a very useful way of making tools.
Using flint (pedernal, silex) and hitting one stone against the other, they sharpened the stones giving them a pointed shape, called SHARPENED STONES or HAND AXES.
Some fragments removed from the stone, called FLAKES, were also used as KNIVES
