THE CONTROL OF FIRE

The first hominids did not know the FIRE and its benefits. Therefore, they could not cook the food, but they ate it RAW.
Physically, this fact had its consquences:
- The size of the mandible (jaw) was quite big since they had to use big molas to chew the raw meat.
- Because these first species were quite primitive (ARDIPHITHECUS RAMIDIS, AUSTRALOPITHECUS and HOMO HABILIS) they had small craneums, what means LITTLE INTELLIGENCE.

Fire was used by the HOMO ERECTUS for the first time (2.000.000 years ago), probably by chance, made by a lighting bolt burning a bush or a tree or by the casual creation of a spark.

the benefits of fire for the first hominids were:

- it was used to heat and enlighten the caves

- it was used for putting the animals away

- it also was used to cook the food, a revolutionary change both physically and socially.
